And, consumers seeking to complete their own staining projects will be amazed at the simplicity of the six-step application process that includes the following:
STEP ONE—CLEANING THE AREA
· Sweep and clear the surface area to be sealed. Remove oil and grease spots with H&C De-Greaser. Rinse thoroughly.
STEP TWO – ETCHING THE AREA
· In a plastic sprinkling can, combine one part H&C Cleaner & Etcher with two parts water. Sprinkle evenly on the concrete and agitate with a stiff broom until foaming stops. Rinse well and allow to dry completely. If another etching product is used follow package directions carefully.
STEP THREE – INSPECTING THE AREA
· Inspect surface to ensure that cleaning and etching were successful. Surface should feel like 120 grit sandpaper. Repeat step two if necessary. Wait 24 hours before applying stain.
STEP FOUR—APPLY
THE FIRST COAT
· If your surface has corners or edges, coat those with your brush first to assure complete coverage of the sealer. Using your roller, evenly apply the first coat to the rest of your surface, working in one direction. Let it dry at least 12 hours before applying your second coat.

STEP FIVE--APPLY THE SECOND COAT

Brush or roll on second coat.
For best coverage, apply the second coat in the opposite direction of the first
coat (i.e., apply North to South if you applied the first coat from East to
West).
STEP SIX—ALLOWING THE SEALER TO DRY
·
The surface will be ready to
enjoy after one about for light foot traffic and heavy traffic after 72-96
hours. Please refer to product labels
for more specific instructions.
Once applied, surfaces are easy to maintain and clean up is simple with soap and water. Additionally, the solvent-based sealer provides long life, since the finished surface won’t peel or flake like it does with other types of coatings.
