H&C® Block ShieldTM Basement & Masonry Waterproofer
Block Shield Masonry Waterproofer H&C® Block ShieldTM Basement & Masonry Waterproofer is a fast-drying, light texture, latex waterproofer with superior sealing properties and long-lasting beauty. It provides more than twice the level of protection against water damage and seepage than is required by industry standard.

Supplies Checklist
You'll need a stiff-bristled nylon or polyester brush, a roller cover with a 1/4" - 1 1/4" nap synthetic cover, a roller frame and a paint tray.

Important Things to Keep in Mind

Weather Conditions

  • Be sure to apply under dry conditions only. Do not apply if rain is expected within 12 hours following application.
  • Air and surface temperature should be between 50º and 90ºF for 24 hours following application. This will ensure proper product penetration.

Applying
  • If efflorescense is present, use H&C® Concrete Etching Solution first.
  • Before applying your coating, make sure you have followed the proper surface preparation methods for the surface you are coating.
  • Two coats are recommended for superior waterproofing, but if seepage still occurs, apply a third coat to seal remaining pinholes.
Cleaning
  • Cleanup is easy-simply use soap and water after your project is complete.

Application Methods
First Coat:

  • If your surface has corners or edges, coat those with your brush first to assure complete coverage of the waterproofer.
  • Using a stiff-bristled nylon or polyester brush, apply your first coat to a clean, bare surface.
  • Fill the surface's pores thoroughly and evenly, covering your entire surface.

  • Using a brush or a roller, apply your second coating covering the entire surface.

Drying Time

Touch 1 hours
Recoat 3 hours
