H&C® Silane Water Repellent, SL-40
This high performance water repellent penetrates into the substrate and provides long term weatherproofing protection. H&C SL-40 Water Repellent is a single component product that is ready to use and typically requires only one application. H&C SL-40 will not darken the surface or leave a visible surface film. Small silane molecules can penetrate deeper into the surface to chemically react with and bond to it.

H&C SL-40 Silane Water Repellent is a proprietary 40% Silane that penetrates into concrete and an excellent moisture inhibitor. It will not change the traction or skid resistance of horizontal surfaces, and doesn't require masking or cleaning of windows. H&C SL-40 Silane Water Repellent prevents efflorescence leaching, and prevents attack of deicing salts and chloride ions. Available in 5-gallon pails. Drums are available upon request.

Product Preparation
New concrete should be cured a minimum of 28 days. Surface should be clean, free of dirt, oil and grease. New concrete may only require sweeping, however if construction traffic has been excessive, washing with a 2000 psi pressure may be necessary.
On older concrete sandblasting or shot-blasting may be necessary. Rinse thoroughly after chemical cleaning. The surface pours must be opened to allow immediate penetration of H&C SL-40. The substrate should have a pH level beween 6 - 10.
Cover and protect all grass, shrubs, plants etc. from overspray.
Wear protective clothing, gloves and goggles, as well as respirator if applying in a tightly ventilated area.

Product Application
The surface should be completely dry. Do not apply below 40° or above 95°F. Do not apply if rain is expected within 3 hours. Do not apply during windy conditions. Apply a single application with low-pressure spray equipment, roller or broom.
For vertical surfaces apply the product from the bottom of the wall upwards spraying so that it will run down the surface at least six inches below the spray pattern. For horizontal surfaces, sufficiently flood coat the surface.
Dry to touch in 1 hour
Recoat: minimum of 4 hours
Light Traffic: 2 hours
Heavy Traffic: 72 hours
For a colored system on porous substrates, apply one flood coat of H&C SL-40 then 2 coats of H&C Concrete Sealer Solid Color Solvent-based.
